About The Chairman
VN Dalmia is Chairman of Dalmia Continental Private Limited (DCPL). DCPL has been a pioneer in establishing the popularity and use of olive oil in India. Launched in 2003, DCPL’s flagship product, Leonardo Olive Oil, is today the country’s leading brand of olive oil. The brand was acquired by Cargill India in February 2014. Dalmia remains an Advisor to Cargill for the Leonardo Olive Oil business. Dalmia is President of the Indian Olive Association and has also received a knighthood from the Italian government titled the “Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity” for his pioneering work in popularising the use of olive oil for Indian cuisine.
DCPL also launched India’s first brand of canola oil, Hudson, in 2007, and has been a pioneer in the establishment of this premium health oil category in the country as well. Hudson is the most widely distributed canola oil brand in India. In 2013, DCPL launched Marco Polo OliRyze, a blend of rice bran oil and olive pomace oil.
In addition, Dalmia sits on the Foundation Board of Trustees of his alma mater, the famed Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, USA. He is also the Executive Vice President of the Babu Jagjivan Ram National Foundation, a foundation under the Ministry of Social Welfare, which is dedicated to the upliftment of the backward classes of India.
Dalmia is the son of group founder and pioneer industrialist Ramkrishna Dalmia and Saraswati Dalmia. The Dalmia family and its relatives control companies in India and abroad; turn-over of these companies, if aggregated, exceeds US $ 10 billion.
